Carolyn Kandusi is a visionary leader at the intersection of impact investing, grassroots innovation, and policy reform. With over 15 years of experience in international development, grantmaking, and strategic philanthropy, she brings deep expertise in supporting rural and youth-led enterprises.
As a Senior Program Officer at Segal Family Foundation, she has directed over $10 million in impact investments to civil society organizations and social enterprises across East and Southern Africa. Her work focuses on expanding access to health, education, and economic opportunity for under-resourced communities.
She is the founder of Policy Innovation Lab-Africa (PIL-A), a Pan-African initiative that champions evidence-based pilot programs and scales social-led innovations through public infrastructure. Carolyn also sits on several governance boards, including the President’s Advisory Committee on Generation Equality in Tanzania, Rukwa Foundation, STIR Education’s Global Council of Advisors, and ABC Impact.
Her extensive experience in rural livelihoods, youth-focused innovation, and systems change makes her a key contributor to IIH’s vision of building sustainable, inclusive models for local innovation.
